Your eduroam Service is Moving This Fall!

Internet2 is expanding the eduroam service with an all new eduroam  portal and back end. These changes roll out this Fall. For more information on why this is happening, go here (link).

The first step happening this Fall is

  • Moving the back end eduroam service to a new architecture to enable scaling to support K12 community and agility to offer new related services
  • Changing where and how you manage your eduroam IdP and SP endpoints to use a new portal.

You will see more changes next year as we work with the eduroam Advisory Committee (link) to identify, prioritize and roll out new features.

What you should know

  1. Internet2 will be moving your organization’s eduroam traffic to the new infrastructure in November. This SHOULD be seamless for you and your community.
  2. You can schedule when your eduroam traffic will be moved. You can sign up for a predefined November eduroam-move wave date.
  3. If you do nothing, your organizations radius traffic will be moved on November 30. Either way, we will verify the date/time that this change will happen with your organization’s eduroam administrator and technical contact(s).
  4. To make changes to your eduroam IdP and SP endpoints after your eduroam traffic moves, you must to set up an account and log into the new Internet2 eduroam Federation Manager Portal. This is not required for the move unless you would like to review your information prior to your organization changing to the new infrastructure. However, you will need to get this set up to make any changes to your eduroam service.

What you should do before November 1

To make sure this move goes smoothly for your organization, please do the following:

  1. ASAP: Place a WATCH on this wiki page to get notifications when this page changes. You can do that by XXXXX.
  2. By October 8 ; Ensure your administrator and technical contacts are up to date in the ANYROAM Admin portal: URL here
  3. On October 13: Information will be sent to eduroam Administrator and Technical Contacts about how to access the new eduroam Portal. We strongly recommend that you set up your account and log in to check your organization’s eduroam information BEFORE your eduroam traffic is moved to the new production environment.
  4. By October 15: Fill out the transition request and sign up for one of the transition waves. If you don’t sign up, we will move your organization on X DATE.
