The group brainstormed around the possible uses of the refernece architecture:

  1. EA use cases:
    1. Use these artifacts to create a local version to use as an education tool for leadership
    2. Use this to highlight the role of technologies, across the whole set of capabilities
    3. Understand how capabilities "interact" so you can understand the interfaces that need to exist between the various technologies that deliver the capabilities
  1. Admin:
    1. Understand the impact of one system on the various interfaces:
    2. Understand where industry standards play a role in implementing
    3. Use this to plan a "bridging architecture" as you move from one architecture to another
  1. CIO:
    1. Figure out the impacts of a new modality on exiisting capabilities and technologies
    2. Figure out the impact of the LMS paradigm shift on the architecture
    3. Can an enterprise architecture support a PLE (Personal Learning Environment". What are the gaps, impacts
    4. Expand the "creative discussion" about T&L
    5. Figure out where there are redundancies -> drive cost reductions
  1. Instructional designer
    1. To better understand the roles of different people in a project
    2. Better understand how to best build the content and course
    3. Use the capabilities to build a course following best-practice delivery methods
    4. Understand and manage open learning resources. How to use them where to store them.
  1. IT architect
    1. Help instantiate the interfaces: event, person, group
    2. Use it as a tool to evaluate new applications (RFP's)
  1. Librarian
    1. Understand the creation needs of objects created in the T&L space
    2. Understand where and how it needs to deliver its contents across the the T&L archtecture
  1. Registrar
    1. Understand which student populations to maintain
    2. Under their interfaces
