The WG had a meeting at GEC 17 in Madison.

  • Primarily a campus based session.
  • They introduced the WG and its charter.
  • Talked about how to connect campus network operators with network researchers.
  • It is clear there is a gap between these two groups that needs to be crossed.

Overall it proved very helpful to meet at GEC. John Moore asked fi they would be at the next GEC? Dan said they have every intention to continue doing so, though the quarterly meetings might be a bit often.

Darrell asked if a document had been prepared that described the failover procedure and described the information that is collected?

  • Grover indicated that I2 would take an action to get this prepared and send it out to the list.
He also pointed out that the ATLAS view has the new link and asked if the proposed links would show up on the ATLAS mats prior to the traffic being moved to the 100G. Hans indicated that he is working on this and will notify the NTAC when it is ready. Hans also said the maps are in fact ready they just need to be made publicly viewable.

Face to Face meetings: Grover Browning.

The intent seemed to be for there to be smaller more focused meetings for the community to come together. He has suggested a forum for Face to Face meetings of the NTAC. Possible topics would include:

  • Headroom policy.
  • Availability and metrics
  • Continuous Network evolution.
  • Routing Policies.
  • Reporting and Notification.
The date for the first one is Sept 24th - 25th noon to noon at a hotel at the Dallas Airport. Dallas seemed like a central easy to get to location.

If you are interested please send Grover a note. He is able to support about 30 people at the meeting.
