Excerpt

Screen2Screen gatherings are designed to provide an additional level of interaction and collaboration over our usual conference calls. Adobe Connect provides a browser based collaboration space including a Notes panel for live meeting minutes, a shared whiteboard, desktop sharing and shared presentations. There is a chat room for capturing questions and/or sidebar discussions.

The vision for the Screen2Screen gatherings is that the time would be divided roughly in half. The first portion would be a presentation or panel presentation on a topic. The second half would be a working session to determine next steps and to push those steps forward. The plan is that the shared presentation, desktop and/or shared white board would be used to present on a topic and build an agenda for the discussion. The notes panel would be used to capture the discussion and provide live minutes. The chat panel would be used to capture parking lot questions and questions from those not on the phone bridge. We will use the phone bridge for the audio instead of the web based audio in Adobe Connect.

Three case studies and a panel discussion will highlight how Enterprise Architecture (EA) helps IT leadership shine a light on IT spend for their business partners on campus.   At UBC, EA blueprint activities help the business side of the enterprise recognize redundancies in the IT portfolio and help them link acquisitions to campus strategy. UMUC is using Capability Mapping to plan and manage expenditures and to help business partners to invest strategically.  UW-Madison has an Architecture Review Board that bring the business side into the discussion and educates them on the complexities of IT projects, IT landscape and IT strategic planning.

Join us for three case studies and a panel discussion.  Presenting the case studies are:

  • Paul Hobson, Director of Enterprise Architecture, University of British Columbia
  • Jim Phelps, Enterprise Architect, University of Wisconsin - Madison and
  • Richmond Stevenson, Assistant Vice President for Enterprise Architecture and Strategy, University of Maryland University College

This event will be co-hosted by:

  • Jim Phelps, Chair of ITANA
  • Theresa Rowe, CIO, Oakland University and Chair of EDUCAUSE CIO Constituent Group
