While the issues around appropriate access to research data is understood, there is also a need for researchers to have control over what information is displayed about them to members of the VO or to the public. A researcher or business administrator who has personal issues that include a restraining order against an someone else may need to immediately adjust their contact information to be completely private. Others may want to restrict their contact information specifically to members in the VO.
Similarly, a researcher may have multiple ID or affiliation, and should have a choice (or the VO should be able to define a default) to determine which identity/information to expose to the VO or to the public.
