http://www.internet2.edu/membership/ip.html

2)    *Brief* updates from each of the 8 pilots

a)    Bernie – Moving along aggressively and actively. They are looking at interesting possibilities for deployment of services utilizing an alternative approach of the national InBloom Effort. Working in an active session with Unicon and Aegis folks did a week-long site visit and implemented a skeletal portal system with a Shibboleth IdP to SSphp SP relationship. Leveraging services with University of Illinois I-Trust, which is a federation registry. This has been challenging but in a good way. Functionality is happening and they are implementing applications and are looking to have an update at the February Workshop

b)   Nebraska – They continue to meet with their identity group. There are two test projects in progress, Shibboleth and Gluu. They have identified 4 applications as possible SPs. Mike and Scott continue to get out and educate. Thanks to Ann and GPN for her presentation. Scott’s manager has just been named the next Commissioner of Education (State Superintendent) He has been very interested in their work

i)      They are prepared to invite Gluu to the InCommon workshop.

ii)     They have settled on Gluu for the pilot part of the phase and are also interested in approaching a brokered relationship.

c)     Merit – Still struggling and continuing to do more outreach. They have a contact at the community college and are working to set up and internal service. They will set up an IdP but are not sure if they will be hosting it.

d)    MCNC – Made progress with Davidson County Community College, which has become an InCommon participant through the scholarship program. When the metadata is received the users will be recognized. They will set up Moodle rooms for K-12. It is felt this can be replicated around the state.

i)      IlliniCloud cloud has expressed an interest in trying to pilot as an InCommon Member and would like to reach out to various school districts as a sponsoring organization. They are considering the approach to establish a K-12 federation using the IdP proxy approach as the sponsoring organization for that bridge. They are considering how to approach, recruit and enlist the appropriate district level participation. It is also interesting to consider the relationship with the Bloomington School District who may have a relationship with joint enrolment programs.

(1)  The North Carolina model is interesting to them and would like to discuss replication on a case-by-case basis.

ii)     Ann feels that brokering a sponsorship will require a call and Internet2 / InCommon is open to it.

e)    UEN – have started to work on the portal and putting up demo pieces with IdP and have been working with Shibboleth and LifeRay. This is back ended with CAS.

i)      Nebraska can introduce UEN to their LifeRay contact, Jordon Clark / ESU-10.org

ii)     IlliniCloud is interested in this conversation because there is an institute in Illinois who has an application suite for their math and science and institute and are trying to have part of their portal provide a presentation layer. They aren’t sure if they will be looking at CAS.

3)    STATUS: *Important* Case studies, lessons learned, etc.

4)    InCommon/Quilt Meeting in February

a)    Bernie / IlliniCloud could provide some information about Gluu and do an inBloom briefing.

b)   Desired outcomes

i)      Between now in February, it would be good for the Pilots to gather artifacts.

ii)     The upcoming Pilot calls will be about the workshop agenda

5)    Next call Thursday 2-January at 4:00 PM EST
