MEETING NOTES: (Call Recorded)

1)    Roll Call, Agenda Bash, Approve Minutes, Intellectual Property Rights Policy Reminder           http://www.internet2.edu/membership/ip.html

2)    Quilt Meeting Update

a)    There were 80 attendees

b)    George encouraged others members to come to the workshop in February

c)     His conversation focused on larger projects

3)    *Brief* updates from each of the 8 pilots

a)    Artifacts in progress? (e.g. case studies, use cases, recommendations, best practices, other learnings)

b)    MCNC – The pilot, while very focused, is moving forward. Steve Thorpe is making progress in setting up the pilot and is working in parallel with Davidson County. He is working with Donald Beck / DCCC on getting him into InCommon. There is a K-12 component to the pilot and they are waiting for the SP component

i)      InCommon/MCNC business models Chicago meeting - After a review, a one page description summary was created about what transpired and where they are moving. They are hoping to have it available by next week.

c)     InCommon Technical advisory committee (TAC) Interfederation subgroup call may be of interest to this group. Major focus is international Interfederation, following it up with Domestic Interfederation. This is still a goal and key point to address. Looking forward to participating. There should be more discussion on tis topic at Identity Week in San Francisco in November. If you are interested in the group – please don’t hesitate to join, it is worth keeping a finger on the pulse of what is happening in the community. Contact SteveO for more information.

d)    MDREN – Not much change since last meeting and continuing on. There is continued outreach to schools. They would like to bring K-12 in next year and would like to engaged them enough to make a commitment and take some responsibility in getting set up.

i)      The CoSN website has just gone though a substantial update and many links are broken. SteveO has moved some of the documentation / primer over to the wiki. SteveO is working with CoSN on getting the links rebuilt

e)    Nebraska – Not a lot of new progress to report. Working with directory systems, getting ready to work with Gluu. Shibboleth training coming up in November. Identity workshop in October. Most interesting outcomes are that the people have opened their eyes about the multiple systems - Data Dashboard, Learning Object, Portal etc…These discussions are happening on the statewide level. There was a conference in Denver and they had a conversation with Illinois about ISLE.

i)      Nebraska has some artifacts to share that are similar to CoSN but with a different twist, and will add them in our wiki.

f)      Merit – Progress is slow. Trying to pull to together a master plan. Trying to coordinate schedules. Sent press release out to membership as additional outreach about the pilot program.

4)    InCommon/Quilt Meeting in February

a)    Desired outcomes

i)      Topic / Panel discussion about Scaling

ii)     Business model

iii)    SteveO and George – Send a separate note requesting topics

iv)   The workshop will have a similar layout as last year. Internet2 is going to help sponsor the Workshop, there won’t be a separate registration fee.

v)    George would like to see potential new pilots attend the Workshop.

vi)   The agenda for the Quilt Winter Member Meeting has not been set yet.

vii)  The venue is the same as last year – La Jolla Shores

5)    Surveys due this Friday

a)    Nebraska and Illinois have submitted still waiting for more surveys. This information would be appreciated.

6)    InCommon POP Webinar that was held several weeks ago experienced technical difficulties and the recording was lost. Perhaps this can be can be repeated.
