- 2 years working w Grouper
1. wikis decided to deploy wikis on the institute.
Must be authenticated to the wiki
2. access control needs , there are several
hierarchical wikis.
IT services handbook, blended hierarchical , units team needs a wiki, plus network team....
What we used to solve this was combo of Shib and Grouper.
Shib quieries database gets attributes, In Grouper....
Impact: 6 wikis and 50 users
About a 5th of user ...

Whose in which modules we can find out .. who has aceess to which leg to capture

3. A room booking system. People in agruculture can book agriculture buildings. Found that was hierarchical access control. But two hierarchies of which staff and which depts.. Also which rooms. So locaion and organizational hierarchies.
Loader process that loads these up into Grouper.
Q. When talking about wiki project I had déjà vu w discussion forums, used VBULLETIN low cost PHP operation.
At MSU. Looked like lots of people using it.
But they wanted to support discussion forums that were completely open to world and
Forums that were completely authorized to fine grain in same instance.
And I was thinking that out in the open source world the concept of multiple access control models for a single application is not well implemented. So need a middleware layer
A: yes we've got 3 different applications 3 languages so they all use same autentication and authorization techniques. Testimatants to the power of these tools that you can use them w different applications, commercial apps and the like.
Q: do you have one wiki? ?
A media wiki. Don't use separate instances.

Grouper is providing the authorizastion.... And
Shib? And passes it back..
