1.    Internet2 update
Chris Robb provided an update.  Level 3 has completed the Charlotte site, installation of the Ciena equipment went well and there is a full DCN node there.  Internet2 has altered the process for obtaining prefixes on the IP network to accelerate the process.  There is ongoing work with the NOC to create tools for this process.  Chris will send a note to the NTAC with a link to the new prefix approval process.  He also mentioned that the NY-Chi direct circuit doesn't have much traffic.

Ana Preston mentioned that the connector and R&E network members call will be held on Wednesday, July 2.

2.    AOAC update
Paul Schopis indicated that the AOAC is starting to look at RON and gigapop business models to provide input to Internet2 on some uses of the backbone.  Further discussion will occur in the future as the wider community is informed.

3.    Peering Working Group update
Jeff Bartig provided an update.  He indicated that there have been additional meetings between CPS and TransitRail to talk about how the two services could cooperate.  A document is being created that will allow the conversation to be more broadly shared.   Caren Litvanyi indicated that there is investigation into how to expand the CPS service.  Caren mentioned that she has been writing policies for the IPv6 migration and has had conversations with various people in the community.  There will be five business days notice provided prior to the transition.

4.    RHCPP working group update
David Crowe indicated that he is convening a call of the RHCPP working group.  There are both technical and policy issues to be considered in Internet2's support of the program.  There are some issues on the Oregon side that may drive the agenda initially.  The group will focus on the technical and will push the policy issues to the appropriate councils.

5.    DCN working group update
Linda Winkler indicated that there has been interest indicated on the mailing list.  She plans to have a call next week and will have a meeting at JT.  She requested suggestions about topics for the call and meeting.  Rob indicated that the AOAC has requested information on DCN and business models and he expects that there will be activities coming out that group.  Rob indicated that there is an interest in innovation and the AOAC also wants to understand about utilization (time and bandwidth).  Eric Boyd also indicated that, via councils and working groups, those working on DCN at Internet2 want to ensure that entire community is engaged.

6.    Routing Policy working group update
David Farmer was unavailable.

7.    Performance working group update
Carla Hunt indicated that a draft charter and goals are available on the Internet2 wiki.  There will be a meeting at the JT in Lincoln.

8.    ARIN update
Dale Finkelson was unavailable.

9.    Naval Observatory update
David Farmer and Jose Domingues were unavailable.

10.    Bulk Transport working group update
Steve Senger indicated that the transport group explored different transport options.  Working with evlbi, the group produced a document and a partial implementation plan, although, at this point, group hasn't met for some time.  At the SMM, there was discussion regarding reinvigorating the group and there was a call last week.  The group expressed interest in moving past protocols and to using PHEOBUS.  They will be working on milestones.  The group may review and update design document and may update the group's charter.  The group is planning monthly calls.

11.    Information Services Infrastructure group update
Martin Swany indicated that the group is examining the topology of the network as well as ways to describe services.  The first step is to look at services that that are common and generic.  A number of people have signed up to be part of the mailing list and there will be meeting at JT.

12.    Other topics
A discussion ensued regarding the use of network in the northeast via the nodes in Chicago, NY, DC.  The path from Chi to NY is shorter through DC than via Buffalo.  The path direct from Chi to NY doesn't get used much.  The 10 gig link between DC and NY is running at a higher utilization than in other places.  There has been discussion of various proposals to deal with this as people will be affected by this.  Caren indicated that she recommends directing traffic across the Chicago to NY path to decrease the traffic on the DC to NY segment.  Further discussion ensued.
