Short Description
The Collaboration Platform provides a self-service system for community members to request access and management rights to Internet2 resources in order to facilitate a working group or other collaboration. This platform leverages the InCommon Federation, the Internet2 wiki, and the Internet2 Sympa email service. In the background, the system uses COmanage and Grouper to manage the registry and permissions.
To enable the Platform, several design choices led to the use of COmanage for portions of the implementation. While ICP is larger than just COmanage, the purpose of this page (and those attached to it, is to provide transparency about the functionality impact to COmanage to support ICP.
The COmanage-based work for ICP is being developed by three development partners (in addition to members of the Internet2 staff): SCG, Alpha Jengo, and Unicon.
Community Impact
It is Internet2's hope that the development work to support ICP will be contributed back to the open source project to be used by the community.
Urgency
This project is a high priority for Internet2.
