Federated Identity Management Essentials: Eduroam

Eduroam (www.eduroamus.org) allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity when visiting other participating institutions. Authentication is done by the user's home institution, while authorization is done by the visited network. Eduroam is widely deployed in Europe, and also in Japan, Australia, and Canada.

This IAM Online will look at efforts to widen deployment in the U.S., led by the University of Tennessee. Louisiana State will provide examples of its deployment and we'll hear about the Eduroam working group of the CIC (Committee for Institutional Cooperation) schools.

Host:
Keith Hazelton, Senior Information Technology
Architect, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Guest Speakers:
David Worth, Network Engineer, University of Tennessee
John Borne, Technology Advisor, Louisiana State University
