Your clients and customers can use credentials from their home institutions to access your service. This means that 1) you can leverage your InCommon participation to serve a global clientele by opting to have your metadata included in eduGAIN, and 2) you do not have to create and maintain credentials for users who participate in any eduGAIN member federation.

What policy decisions and choices will we need to make?

The InCommon Participation Agreement and the InCommon FOPP (Federation Operating Policies and Practices) have both been modified. The modifications to the FOPP take effect 10 days after notification (Nov. 22, 2015. The changes to the Participation agreement take effect 90 days after notification, or February 11, 2016. You do not need to take any action if you agree to the changed documents. InCommon recognizes that some Participants have signed different (e.g., due to unique state laws) or older versions of the Participation Agreement. All specific changes that were incorporated into prior agreements will remain in effect, unless those changed sections have been modified by these new changes.
