DRAFT - Proposed Cohortium Work Group Structure - DRAFT

The Cohortium has made significant progress through its subgroup structure.  This has allowed project work to be performed by interested individuals in focused discussions, while the full Cohortium retains the ability to review work products before they are published.

Now that we have completed a number of these projects, however, it is evident that an increasing number of our topics touch multiple subgroups, making coordination of a particular project more difficult. Information must be repeated for the different subgroups, while people in multiple subgroups must hear the repeated information multiple times.

We proposed forming shorter-term work groups around specific topics, rather than maintaining the current standing subgroups.  The initial set of work groups would include:

  • "Selling" the importance of MFA to executive management
    • Elevator speech
    • Business case template
  • Educating the user community about MFA ("Selling" MFA to the user community)
  • Providing guidance for application managers on the use of MFA ("Selling" to application managers)
  • MFA management console
    • Document needs
    • Advocacy with Duo
    • Open source project?
  • MFA and Active Directory
  • Umbrella document for the body of the Cohortium's work
  • (Suggestions for additional topics?)

Logistical Matters

  • Keep (some) existing subgroup time slots?
    • Which are preferred?
  • Migrate to new structure on new collaboration platform?
