Background
Grouper provides sophisticated group management functions.
Hypothetical Request
A developer from Small College has added SCIM support to Grouper to meet a local need, and wishes to contribute the code back to the Grouper project. Small College is not in any official way involved with the OSS IDM Joint Venture.
Execution
The contribution follows existing Grouper models. The developer makes contact with the Grouper developers, who review the contribution and determine whether or not to accept it according to existing guidelines. The Joint Venture is not involved in any way.
If the developer subsequently becomes an active member of the Grouper developer team on a voluntary basis (ie: with no formal backing from Small College), the Grouper developers continue to make decisions regarding participation, including the granting of commit privileges, according to their existing guidelines.
