Discussion

Working group updates

CTAB nominations / recruiting

  • So far two nominations for CTAB have been received,
    • one is from a current CTAB member with an  term expiring who would like to serve another term
  • From last year, there were some CTAB nominations we did not accept due to voting results.
    • David and Albert will review those and reach out to those individuals.
  • Hope to have relatively balanced representation of community stakeholders.
  • It will be helpful to think ahead to topics CTAB will want to focus on in coming years, such as security.
  • Those CTAB members with expiring terms: Pal, Ercan, Richard F, Chris W, Robert Z, Jule,
  • Albert will chat with Ann and Kevin about whether there are known issues with Federal employees serving on an advisory board.  If there are not issues, Chris W has some contacts he will reach out to.

Baseline Expectations V2 - review outstanding lists; starting to develop recommendations to Steering

  • Albert reached out to some IDPs  on the non compliant entities list.
  • Most did not respond.
  •  In some cases, emails are bouncing. One responded and is now compliant
  • Albert will now start to reach out to some SPs who are not compliant, the best way is via their customers (the campus IDPs they  work with).
  • Albert will start sending a formal notice to some of the entities that CTAB members have reached out to.
  • At next CTAB call, we should compile recommendations for InCommon Steering of entities that may need to be threatened with removal / removed.
  • Process for removal:
    • for Baseline Expectations V1, we unpublished entities due to be removed then watch for potential storms.
    • Last time there were no storms, no one complained.
    • But for BEV1 we had a smaller number of entities, and no IDPs to be removed.
  • Some entities have responded to CTAB outreach, but have not completed the final step to come into compliance.

Further brainstorming on TechEx

  • There was a CTAB members dinner at TechEx 2019 in New Orleans
  • Albert will help coordinate a CTAB members dinner for Tuesday evening Dec. 6, 2022
  • Looking ahead - What will CTAB focus on in 2023 to carry forward the mission?
    • E.g., how do we make MFA real?
    • Others?
  • Open CTAB meeting at TechEx
