Discussion

Community Update

CACTI themes for 2022

Rob discussed 2022 CACTI Focal Points as a starting point for this discussion, including previously-promised and ongoing activities, as well as potential areas of interest we could address in 2022.

  • Distributed / self-sovereign identity
    • The has significant impacts for our current trust model.
    • Rob and Chris have been talking with Heather Flanagan of the InCommon TAC about a potential joint working group to discuss federated identity issues for digital wallets.
    • There’s a good amount of work going on around the world (e.g., IEEE Integrated Learner Record (ILR) Ecosystems); where can we add value?
  • Stoney: We should probably ask what people are working on (what’s immediately important), as well as what they’re interested in.
    • Kevin H: Where are institutions hosting services (mail, MFA, new services…), cloud vs. local.
      • Kevin M: We might be able to glean this from EDUCAUSE Core Data.
  • Rob will be sending individual electronic mail to CACTI members to solicit everyone's thoughts on focus areas for 2022.
  • We will continue this discussion next time.
