Attached are a set of example road-maps that I built using fish-bone diagrams. Each fish-bone diagram has two parts: an Organizational section where I capture policy and governance type events and a Technical section (below the line) where I capture technology and project-like events.
I like to use fish-bones because they have no "date or duration" type data. People can't look at them and start the whole "do you think that will only take three weeks" or "you think this step will be done by July 1" type questions. They also let you show ambiguity by having crossing lines. Finally, you can show related Technical and Organizational events.
