We agreed that there is interest in getting them involved right now. Charlie has already started reaching out. Brendan will do so at USC. Ann West has already mentioned getting AACRAO involved.
Jack Suess: Case study. College Foundation of North Carolina, cfnc.org. Helps plan, apply, and pay for college. Portal, lots of resources. Involves parents in 7th and 8th grade.
Thinking about College Board start getting an identity structure earlier, maybe 7th and 8th grades.
Access test prep activities. It would then be easy for a state to leverage this infrastructure.
Perhaps a lower level credential that’s upgraded to Silver in 11th grade. Gives students an opportunity to start strong e-portfolios. Portfolio service?
Statesnet group? Providing shared services that cut across universities and k12 areas. Some basis for authentication they require.
Randy will map EduPerson to their requirements. Requirements for College Board brand to be maintained. Put together a system flow discussion for the “Story.” Randy and Michael will work together to describe the flow.
Jack: Setting up service providers would be an excellent way for ACT and College Board to “stick their toes in the water.”
First phase: Get College Board and ACT to create SP’s? Brendan and Arnie came out against making this the long-term goal of this project, agreeing that SP’s are important, but the real success in this project will be the IdP and InCommon Silver credentials for high school students going to college.
Would it make sense to ask the testing community to work with a single vendor to house credentials. Consortium? 3rd party sponsored identity system that would use feedback from the testing agencies.
529 plans?
AACRAO Tech conference? July 10th through 12th in Reno, Nevada.
InCommon student group along with some PESC group, get groups to start informal conversations. Who from PESC? Maybe have one of them reach out to AACRAO. Consult with Michael about which group in PESC should participate.
