What is entity status?

Entity status indicates the state your entity record (IdP or SP) is in Federation Manager. It shows up as a color label in two places: on the dashboard, next to each entity ID and within an IdP or SP view near the top of page.

Status definitions

The following table explains the meaning of each status:

Status

Label

Meaning
New

An entity with a status of "New" is a newly entered record that is being edited. It has never been published to the InCommon metadata.
Editing

"Edit" appears when a Site Administrator or Delegated Administrator has begun making changes to a currently published entity. These changes have not yet been submitted for publishing in the InCommon metadata. The copy visible in Federation Manager reflects the "editing" copy and may differ from the published metadata.
Approval Pending

"Approval Pending" appears when a Site Administrator or Delegated Administrator has submitted the entity for publishing in the InCommon metadata. The submission is pending Registration Authority approval.
Hold

"Hold" indicates that the Registration Authority has placed a publish-hold on this entity for business rules validation or administrative reasons.
Publish Pending

"Publish Pending" means the publishing request has been approved. The updated entity metadata will be published to the InCommon metadata at the next scheduled metadata publication time.

Published

"Published" means the entity metadata is currently published in the InCommon metadata, and that there are no outstanding changes. The current copy visible in Federation Manager is the same as the published metadata.
Attention Required

"Attention Required" means the Registration Authority has returned a publishing request to the Site Administrator to resolve outstanding issue(s) before it can be approved.
Rejected
"Rejected" means that the entity metadata, as submitted, has been rejected by the Registration Authority. It will not be published.
Not Published

"Not Published" indicates that the entity passes all validation checks, although it is not currently published in the InCommon metadata.

This status is most likely to appear if you have elected to un-publish an entity from the InCommon metadata.

SA Review Required

"SA Review Required" indicates that a Delegated Administrator has submitted changes to an entity metadata. A Site Administrator needs to review the changes and if appropriate, submit the changes for publishing in the InCommon metadata.
Unpublish Requested

"Unpublish Requested" indicates that a Delegated Administrator has requested to un-publish this entity's metadata from the InCommon metadata. A Site Administrator needs to take action to actually un-publish the entity.

An un-published entity will remain visible in Federation Manager with the status of "Not Published".

Removal Requested

"Removal Requested" indicates that a Delegated Administrator has requested to remove this entity's metadata from Federation Manager. A Site Administrator needs to take action to actually remove the the entity.

When an entity is removed from Federation Manager, it will also be un-published from the InCommon metadata.
