Access control with Shibboleth and Grouper. How to populate identity stores.
Newcastle University has been using Shibboleth to do authentication for several years.
Use Grouper for authorizaiton decisions.
All hierarchy information is in Grouper. Then expose that for authorization.
Problems were uncovered in the Newcastle data architecture
Too many arrows
So needed a project to tie this together
Goal: improve data flow into end applications
Need a tool that can take module code and need to make sense of all core institutional data
