GridShib Use Cases

There are three use cases under consideration:

  1. Established Grid User
  2. New Grid User
  3. Grid Portal User

An established grid user already possesses an X.509 credential (which may or may not be managed by !MyProxy). Such a user wields a non-browser client.

A new grid user does not possess an X.509 credential. Such a user depends on an online CA (such as the MyProxy Online CA) to obtain a credential. This user also wields a non-browser client.

A grid portal user uses a web browser to request a service at a Grid SP. A portal interface is often used to browse available services.
