*K20 Communications Strategy: What is the value of K20? (Sherilyn Evans and Tom Egan, All)*
Sherilyn Evans and Tom Egan led a discussion on the value of I2 connectivity in the K20 community, and how we communicate that message to stakeholders – policy makers, funders, K20 constituents.

  • Compelling arguments - competitive advantage (students from other countries are gaining ground against US students)
  • Digital divide issue (funding Internet2 helps equally distribute access to digital learning resources)

  • ACTION ITEM: Heather Boyles and Jennifer MacDougal will continue to work at identifying the appropriate counterparts overseas. myK20 can be used to help create a global network of people interested in using advanced networks as a collaborative learning vehicle.

Art discussed a collaborative teacher training project involving Georgia Public Broadcasting, Internet2, and the Learning & Performance Support Laboratory at the University of Georgia. (PowerPoint 3,634 KB)

  • Department of Education is willing to consider thinking about providing "Internet2 to every school desktop" similar to the "broadband to every home" initiative.
  • perhaps focus a student performance problem and run several pilot projects to show how Internet2 connectivity can be used.
