The draft Reference Architecture for Teaching and Learning (RATL) is a product of the ITANA Learning Working Group in 2012-2013. This site is under development as we continue to incorporate and expand on the working group's findings from 2013.

Capabilities

A capability is something that an enterprise needs to be able to do to succeed. Capabilities show what the enterprise should be able to do, not how it is done or who does it. Agreement on high level capabilities is a foundation for subsequent analysis and planning of business processes and technology solutions.

For an introduction to the capabilities covered in the RATL, see:

To support its capabilities, an enterprise needs a variety of assets. We use this term broadly to cover:

  • Processes
  • Roles
  • Data
  • Tools

The following sections cover our work so far on identifying these assets.

Processes

An enterprise's capabilities are supported by the business processes it is able to execute. The working group captured a wide variety of processes in the following pages:

In 2014 we'll be working to identify key processes and the capabilities that they support.

Roles

An enterprise's capabilities are supported by people acting in roles. The working group captured roles in the following pages:

Data

An enterprise's capabilities are supported by data. The working group captured information about teaching and learning data in the following pages:
