CACTI themes for 2022

  • SSO System Linking WG
    • Draft charter for SSO System Linking Working Group was developed by Rob and Keith Wessel of the TAC.
    • It’s becoming common for an enterprise (campus) to need to integrate multiple SSO systems, creating a less than optimal experience for users. This group will look at strategies to address this.
    • Who is the audience? Is the cat already out of the bag?
      • Many institutions have addressed this, but aren’t always happy with what they’ve done. This is an opportunity to share knowledge and experience about the implications of different approaches.
      • This will not be a catalog of technology offerings and how they work. It’s more about the implications of choices.
    • People need to make choices. For example, if you want Sharepoint, you need to integrate Microsoft's IAM infrastructure.
      • The issues are not just technology. This is an opportunity to surface IAM implications of what appear to be non-IAM IT strategies
    • There is community interest in this issue. It is often an ACAMP topic. (See people listed at the end of the charter)..
    • Everyone please review Draft charter for SSO System Linking Working Group, adding any comments you may have by Friday. If all comments can't be resolved earlier, we’ll discuss what's left in our next meeting. Rob will send mail as a reminder.
  • Possible joint WG with TAC on distributed identity / wallets
    • Heather Flanagan is drafting a charter for a working group to address issues around academic digital wallets used to store academic certificates, etc. at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W_JXZrvgxGCMTdRbn5Ya5gh0LRgZGFcwtX2UVtr5iMk. There will likely be a version we can discuss in our next call.
    • Comments on the current draft
      • The group's deliverables need to be clarified.
      • This is a new field; people are still figuring out what’s needed. Perhaps the emphasis should be less on defining solutions and more on identifying the issues and questions that need to be addressed.
