Discussion

SIRTFI Exercise Working Group

  • There have been 11 responses to the Call for participation - some InCommon Ops folks will also join
  • A doodle poll will be sent for the first meeting of the SIRTFI Exercise Working Group

CTAB Election Results and election of chair and co-chair

  • Rachana Ananthakrishnan (Globus, University of Chicago) was re-elected to another term on CTAB
    • Rachana may be elected to another InCommon advisory committee and this would impact her willingness to serve on CTAB
  • New CTAB members: Sarah Borland, U Nebraska and Rick Wagner, UCSD,  were elected new CTAB members
  • Albert has send out solicitation of interest for CTAB members to serve as chair and co-chair,
    • Note first email from Albert did not have correct roster, please respond to the corrected email from Albert
  • Confirm Chair ballot by 11/29; send ballot 11/29; vote by 12/1
  • Send vice chair ballot 12/1; vote by 12/3
  • Ready 2022 slate for Steering Approval on 12/6

Baseline Expectations v2 Docket - assignment of outreach responsibilities to US-based CTAB members

    • Albert has marked on the wiki page those organizations that have responded to the acknowledgement form, either stating that they will meet  BEv2 by the deadline or that have requested an extension
    • So far we  have received 8 responses to the acknowledgement form, but 8 out of 140 is not an impressive ratio
    • Albert plans to reach out to the commercial Service Providers not meeting Baseline Expectations v2
    • We hope that CTAB members will sign up to reach out to the other organizations
    • Albert will create a google sheet to make it simple for CTAB members to sign up to reach out to an organization (as was the process for BEv1)  (DONE)
    • There will be a random assignment of any organizations on the google sheet, that are not yet assigned, to US-based CTAB members
    • Please use comments to indicate if you have reached out to an organization and they have responded
    • 140+ organizations not meeting BE2 for all entities

  • Looking ahead, there is a suggestion that we may need a 3rd category in between “BEv2 complaint” and “Dispute Resolution”
    • Note:  grade of A in SSL Labs testing is not required in the baseline expectations
    • A 3rd category  in between “BEv2 complaint” and “Dispute Resolution” could be helpful for an organization that needs to provide a remediation plan
    •  Emphasize that we are not trying to “kick out” anybody from the InCommon Federation
    • What’s needed will depend on how many organizations are not meeting baseline expectations v2 in 2022
    • We need to decide how to  proceed equitably when entities do not receive an SSL Labs grade of A
      •  ask them, "can you achieve SSL Labs test grade of A, or do you have a remediation plan, or do you have some other plan?"
    • Organizations that aren’t working with us/ trying to meet SSL labs grade of A are the ones we are most concerned about.
