The Internet2 NET+ Canvas Program is open to all Internet2 members. This wiki page will overview how to make the most of your program participation by providing details on Service documentation, upcoming events, latest Service Advisory Board news, and community resources around the web.

Program Benefits:

The Internet2-Instructure NET+ partnership enables institutions to move rapidly through the LMS evaluation process, allowing for faster adoption of a superior learning platform. In addition to discounted subscription fees, Internet2 Members are eligible for these special NET+ Canvas benefits:

  • Discounted rates on professional services

  • Customized support packages at discounted rates

  • Two free passes to InstructureCon, Instructure's annual conference, the first year of your agreement

  • Access to subscriber mailing lists, regular program webinars, and other community resources

Program Characteristics:

  • Open to all Internet2 members

  • Minimum commitment for an Enterprise Customer is 3 years

  • Enterprise Customer Agreement (ECA) automatically renews

Program News & Updates

July 25, 2024: Instructure to be Acquired by KKR (press release): Internet2 is engaging with Instructure and the Service Advisory Board to share our research on KKR, field any concerns, and figure out what questions we want to pose to Instructure. We'll be sure to share any relevant information to program subscribers as needed. If you'd like to share your questions or concerns with the Service Advisory Board, please fill out this form. You may also contact Internet2 at netplus@internet2.edu. 

Newsletters about the NET+ Canvas Program are issued quarterly and emailed to all Program Subscribers. Missed the latest issue? You can always go back and review previous newsletters, and please reach out to us to ensure you receive them in your inbox going forward. NET+ Canvas Subscribers may also review our mailing list archives for additional program updates.

The NET+ Canvas Service Advisory Board meets monthly in collaboration with Instructure to discuss strategic product improvements, program roadmaps, community experience, and more. Previous SAB meeting agendas are made available shortly after each meeting.

In this meeting, we will discuss Instructure's current and upcoming initiatives in data governance, focusing on innovations in data retention for education. The agenda includes an open Q&A session, exploration of new concepts and solutions for data retention, and gathering feedback on product strategy and future plans. Key topics include course archiving features, configuration of data governance policies, and the implementation of hard deleting mechanisms, all aimed at improving data management.

Instructure, working with Internet2, announced the creation of a Data Governance Advisory Council to address the rising data management and archiving needs of higher educational institutions. Comprising members from Instructure and Internet2, as well as representatives from various education institutions, the council seeks to recommend consistent data hygiene/governance standards. The NET+ Canvas SAB met in Salt Lake City for their annual in-person board meeting at Instructure's Global HQ office. The full day's agenda can be found here: 2024 SAB Agendas.

Thanks to everyone that was able to attend our most recent Town Hall outlining the details and benefits of Amendment #9. In September of 2023, an amendment was agreed upon between Instructure and Internet2 to update pricing schedules and introduce bundling for Internet2 members that purchase from Instructure. Meeting recording to be shared soon.

Data Governance Advisory Council

The mission of the Instructure & Internet2 Data Governance Advisory Council is to bring together an influential group of educational leaders who, together with Instructure, will help map, shape, and evaluate new solutions, services and policy surrounding data retention.
