    https://docs.google.com/document/d/11AmrUfkqO6F_8jxEyDhy_6koExMjP4TO2S3QVAMPAsc/edit
    1. There is significant detail on the business accomplishments of projects but little information about the accomplishments of the project teams in dealing with engaging
    2. Are there other experiences in the summaries that could be included in the White Paper
    3. Willingness of the vendor community to assist with the project. It was crucial
    4. Enhance / Characterize the following sections

                                     i.     Internet2

                                   ii.     Challenges Encountered

                                 iii.     Successes and Benefits

  1. There needs to be a re-working of the last paragraph in the Challenges Encountered section. A restatement of that point in the Success and Benefits part of that document would be helpful.
  2. Under success and Benefits forth paragraph.

                                     i.     Some pilots noticed that alter better understanding of the project and being together in the pilot – it was the “pilot components” there was an increase and understanding of all involved in the pilot.

  1. Last paragraph

                                     i.     Re-engaging with CoSN. Does this need to be shown in a different part of the document

ii.     What is the original goal of the project paper? Where was the greatest impact meant

iii.     In the K-12 community, the value proposition is difficult in higher-ed so even more difficult tin K-12

  1. InCommon decided to include K-12 because there have been so many questions
  2. There were four years of conversations with CoSN regarding federation and how there needed to be immediate considerations so there wouldn’t be 50 separate federations.
  3. The pilots could show the that discussion across the community by showing K-12 tech some of the results of the pilots (SAML)
    1. This would be helpful
    2. Two Questions need to be answered
      1. Why did we collaborate?

                                                                                           i.     This was very beneficial

ii.     Specific outcomes need to be highlighted

  1. Coming together with the group
  2. Having an opportunity to collaborate with Paul Claskey
  3. There was the opportunity to collaborate with a community of experts
  4. It is more than simply the single sentence in the successes and benefit section. This was more than boot-strapping
  5. For people that have been in the community, for a few years, they tend to overlook the “wins”
  6. Target the paragraph.
  7. Why Federate?
  8. Create pointers to specific pilot comments. This will only strengthen the document
  9. Next steps for White Paper
    1. Add a references section where there is a link to the summary

                                     i.     It is important not to get the White Paper so detailed that the audience is not inclined to read through the document

ii.     Add detail in the Wiki

  1. Is there in there interest in having a webinar or an IM online?

                                     i.     Yes, the group feels this is a good idea

ii.     This has been a long time coming

  1. Timing – how would this fit in with the business model part of the pilot

                                     i.     EduGain is detailed so there needs to be consideration of any conflict

ii.     Must be specific that this is only about the pilot program

  1. Report out from Tech Ex in Cleveland
    1. BoF

                                     i.     There was someone from Alberta Canada who is interested in the program

  1. Interop working group
  2. EduGain “Refretes”

                                     i.     It was a good way to start the conversation. Discussion about the challenges in the UK was interesting.

ii.     EduGain aggregate from all the international entities, there are K-12 participants

iii.     That level of collaboration was important. Identifying people in other federations would be a good place to start.

                                   iv.     Advance Camp Session

  1. There was interest in federation. It is important not to loose the opportunity to reach-out to more supporters. There needs to be more case studies and interaction before there is a drive to involve K-12. There needs to be a value proposition with the existing pilots. Concrete cost savings and benefits etc. We are on the boarder of being successful.
  2. It is important to have visionaries pulling the community along but it is very important to crate a solid foundation that the community can reference and build upon.

                                     v.     There needs to be a conversation about strategies

vi.     How do you represent constituents (*.”domain”)

  1. In ongoing federation efforts this element can be daunting. It is vital to organize properly. This will be encountered more as a regional. There are hundreds of school districts in the state.
  2. Update on MCNC/InCommon pilot (MarkJ, MarkS, David)
    1. In process of documenting the specifics of the >>> and metadata review process
    2. Legal is working on the next iteration of the addendum

                                     i.     They are looking through the InCommon Model

  1. First draft is expected next month.
  2. Next steps for these All Pilots calls
    1. White paper was the wind down
    2. Internet2 needs to reallocate their support staff
    3. San Diego Meeting?
    4. How to involve K-12
    5. It is sufficient to have the Wiki and email list with calls as needed
    6. There may be new working groups in the future
    7. IAM webinar to finalize the White Paper
