If using the *recommended *configuration: Authentication for InCommon Silver users is restricted to using appropriately secure protocols. Specifically: LM and NTLMv1 are not allowed. NTLMv2 and Kerberos based authentication is allowed for non-IdP application authentication, which -- while not using Protected Channels -- is impractical to attack in a way which retrieves the user's raw authentication credentials.
