Changes in Baseline Expectations 2.0

In addition to the Expectations proposed for implementation in v2.0, there are additional items under consideration for inclusion in future versions of Baseline Expectations for Trust in Federation. See Additional Expectations Coming in 2021 and Beyond for more.

Clarification of New Requirements

• All entity (IdP and SP) service endpoints must be secured with current and supported transport layer encryption.
• Entity (IdP and SP) complies with the requirements of the Sirtfi v1.0 trust framework.

• Identity Provider must include an errorURL in its metadata.

Additional Expectations Coming in 2021 and Beyond

The following are emerging needs, but are out of scope for the Community Consensus Process for Baseline 2.0.

As the needs of the R&E community evolves, so does will Baseline Expectations. Further, we anticipate some expectations will require a longer transition period to adoption. To help everyone get prepared early, these are additional Expectations that are likely to be introduced in future iterations of InCommon Baseline Expectations: 

• Entity (IDP and SP) supports the REFEDS MFA Profile

• All InCommon IDP shall support the REFEDS Research & Scholarship (R&S) Entity Category
