NIST TFS (Trust Framework Solutions) Program News
https://www.idmanagement.gov/trust-services/
• Tom prepared a response to NIST regarding their recent program docs.
• Tom will change the last paragraph into more of an “ask”
• We need to send this to NIST by Friday, Dec. 22
, 2017
• Almost an entirely new TFS program
; may be conceived for federal govt procurement purposes
◦ Would drastically increase the cost
to InCommon
◦ Brett: New recommendations on passwords and on MFA are of value
• InCommon is already federating with several federal agencies, using mechanisms outside the TFS program
• Might be helpful to do some behind the scenes consultation on what Kantara and others are thinking of these TFS changes. Colin Wallis's blogpost was of interest.
CTAB Consultation https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/x/5Br9Bg
• Consultation closes Jan. 2, 2018
◦ Jack Suess provided input in the consultation, he suggests to add the word “advocate”
◦ [AI] (Tom) will add the word “advocate” to the CTAB charter per Jack Suess input
◦ Nathan provided input in the consultation, suggesting the need for privacy officer or expert inclusion on the CTAB
▪ Suggestion to re-evaluate the need for a privacy officer at next CTAB charter review
▪ Could pull in a privacy expert SME when needed.
[AI] (Brett) will email one more reminder of the call for nominations for CTAB, Extending deadline until Jan 5, 2018 (done)
CTAB Recruitment
TomB reached out to Ivy Plus and the Big 10 CISOs to recruit for CTAB
