Alan reported that not all that much has gone on since the last meeting. He was planning on talking to the APAN chair for the upcoming CANS meetings. Also Michael Lambert will hold a WG meeting at the Spring Internet2 meeting. There is a need to find some ideas about replacing the Challenge with some other way of staying out in front of the campuses. This will be discussed at the April meeting which is from noon to 1:00 on tuesday of that week.

Jeff Bartig reported that the Peering and Routing WG continues to have monthly calls. During these Darrell N. provides updates on TR-CPS issues and status. There is an ongoing discussion about the relationship between TR-CPS and AL2S. And the discussion on metrics continues. Jeff will put out a call for a smaller group to draft recommendations soon. David Crowe asked if there had been any volunteers as of yet to work on this document. The answer was that not really but the call for help will go out soon.

There was interest in finding someone from the NOC to talk about the tools they have available and provide an overview of the NOC functions related to layer 2. Dale will facilitate that.

Ken Miller then reported that the performance white paper has not yet gone out. He has received a response to the draft, and he will make it more available very soon. It will go to the NTAC for a final draft. He talked also about rethinking the charter for this group, perhaps to include more of the measurement activity as well as the monitoring activity.

David Crowe mentioned that there has been a good bit of discussion on the SDN lists ands calls of late. They are planning a face-to-face meeting at the Spring Internet2 meeting. That meeting is scheduled from 7:30 Am to 8:30 AM on Tuesday 4/23.

Linda reported on the NAOPpag activity. She also mentioned that there is an open NAOPpag meeting at the Annual meeting in AprilThe report can be found at:http://www.internet2.edu/membership/updates/0213.html

Dale gave a brief update on Internet2 activity.
• Chicago router swapped out to an MX960
• Cleveland router installed
• Salt Lake City router swapped out to an MX960
• Seattle router swapping this week
• Kansas City router swap postponed due to weather
• As we go, we're consolidating our backbone circuits into circuit LAGS
◦ preemptively consolidated Atlanta-McLean LAG together
• Layer3 architecture conversation winding down
He also pointed out that there can be impact on ION circuits when the router swaps occur. Every effort is made to notify circuit owners. The plan to move ION traffic onto AL2S continues as the router swaps occur.

David Crowe then discussed the NTAC futures meetings. With the advent of NET+ as well as other services being added into the mix that are available to participants it is likely that the NTAC should move beyond just talking about architectural issues.

There have been several meetings with good wide-ranging conversations so far. These will be continuing. They have met with some external groups as well, for instance Net+, LHCONE and those interested in End-to-End issues. On the next call formation of a smaller task force will be discussed.
