•    Report on IPv4 address exhaustion (Michael Lambert)
o    Shortly before Joint Techs there were rumors that the seven remaining would be handed out in the near future to trigger the ending.
o    It could be a couple of weeks or until the end of the year.
o    It you have a request for address numbers you can be put on a waiting list.
o    ARIN taking transfer requests.
o    There are no policies for ARIN to go after sites not making the best of their address space.
•    Reports from groups formed based on CAI document
o    Operations (Marianne Chitwood)
o    Services (Dave Pokorney)
o    Policy (Steve Wallace)
•    Combined meeting of all three on January 19th.
•    Invited to talk with Walt Magnussen at Texas A&M.  Walt has a long history of working with emergency services community and provided some very insightful information.  The community has interesting challenges and there were numerous discussions on jurisdictional mindset.
•    The emergency community is a very vocal workforce regarding providing multimedia applications that they don't have access to today.
•    We are formulating a way to work together on different levels.
•    There is talk of another joint meeting to be scheduled with Mark Johnson of US UCAN.
•    Policy
•    Met twice since the last meeting.  Working on a framework document and will have more to report at the next meeting.
•    Layer 2 service (Michael Lambert)
o    The NTAC has been tasked by the AOAC to come up with a Layer 2 service model.
o    Hoping to get a good draft by the end of this month for the AOAC meeting in March.

•    Updates
o    Working Groups
•    Information Services (Martin Swany)
•    No updates
•    ION (Linda Winkler)
•    Dale led a discussion at Joint Techs regarding the planning for future upgrades and direction for the working group to track what is going on with the DYNES project.
•    Q: Is there any indication as to what kind of update DYNES is having?
•    A: There were about 38 DYNES proposals submitted, all of which have been accepted.  Can't answer how many sites and how many connections at this time.
•    Q:  Looking at ION usage statistics page there was a huge spike in October/November due to SC.  Wonder if you know who was doing something that caused the spike in December/January?
•    A:  The NoX has been using it for GENI.

•    IPv6 (Michael Lambert)
o    Good discussions during the working group meetings regarding World IPv6 Day, which is scheduled for June 8, 2011.  This is sponsored by ISOC and the main purpose is for content providers to keep their content available via v6 for that day, i.e., Google, Facebook, etc.
o    Our role at this point is to make all IPv6 accessible for that day.  We want to have as much campus eyeballs IPv6 enabled as possible.
o    ACTION:  Michael to send information on World IPv6 Day.
o    Internet2 provides full IP transit to connectors that choose to peer with the v6 part of TR-CPS.  Steve happy to send documentation if requested.
o    Would be wonderful if there was a way to measure the impact of World IPv6 Day.  Most traffic will be in TR-CPS and we would be able to look at the interface counters.  Being able to have Netflow would be even better.
o    This may be an opportunity for some good PR.
o    Via the v6 Working Group, there is a call for content focused more on how to get servers on v6 and less on the network side.  It would be helpful if you can reach out to your communities and see if someone will generate that content to do a workshop.

•    Multicast (Richard Machida)
o    Working group met during Joint Techs and was lightly attended.
o    Discussed outline on experience trying to get IPv6 multicast working on campus.

•    Peering and Routing (Jeff Bartig)
o    Having monthly meetings for updates on the progress of the TR-CPS consolidation.
o    Internet2 is working on pulling out the MXs from production and replacing with T1600 throughout the network upgrade.
o    The first one happens tonight with Kansas City and that MX will become a TR-CPS router in Chicago.
o    Once that is in place it will allow greater connectivity for backbone and peering and also help with getting connectors migrated.
o    The next working group call will discuss IPv6 transit that TR-CPS has and what we need to do to improve as we approach IPv6 Day.

•    Performance (Carla Hunt & Chris Hawkinson)
o    Meeting regularly at each Member Meeting and Joint Techs.
o    At the moment we do not have a stated direction but acting as a forum for various performance presentations.
o    The last meeting was centered on perfSONAR and what we are doing there.

•    Transport (Steve Senger & Chet Ruszczyk)
o    No updates

•    Internet2 (Steve Wallace)
o    Please see the link provided in the agenda to navigate to the comprehensive presentation given at Joint Techs.
o    Slide #5 shows the advanced network and network services leadership.  This is a draft version of the Interent2 upgrade to 100G network showing the approximate fiber routes including the partnership Northern Tier / Internet2 route.
o    Slide #15 shows the historical offered load and continues to have substantial growth.
o    During the router code upgrades, there were some problems that forced us to do emergency upgrade in Chicago on the T1600.
o    There were connector upgrades to LEARN, MCNC, 3ROX/Drexel, MAX, NyserNet, and University of Memphis.
o    Network Upgrade
