1.    Update from Internet2
Chris Robb provided the Internet2 update.  Internet2 is migrating from the Qwest PoP in Seattle to the Weston Building.  The move is going to take place this month.  A Ciena will be installed.  Chris mentioned that the CPS migration in NY is progressing; the peering switch from 111-8th is being moved to the meet-me area to make it easier to get to other peers, etc.  The move is being delayed as installation of a phone line is being awaited.  Chris indicated that the SLC router has been upgraded and the upgrade to other sites is being planned.

2.    Update from AOAC
Paul provided an update on recent AOAC activities.  The AOAC is investigating how Internet2 is able to service national organizations and how this affects the connectors.  The effort is being led by George Loftus of the AOAC along with Ana Preston and Christian Todorov.

3.    Update from Peering Working Group
Jeff Bartig was not available.  Caren Litvanyi mentioned that there was a face-to-face meeting at JT focusing on CPS migration.  Hurricane Electric is interested in offering full IPv6 transit for free and there was interest in discussing this in a larger group.  This represents a good way to get better v6 transit.  Dave Reese expressed concerns about the people taking advantage of v6 not always being involved in pertinent discussions.  Paul will send a note to Dave Reese asking him to articulate his concerns to the larger group.  It was also mentioned that the University of Memphis is a new CPS user.

4.    Update from RHCPP working group
David Crowe was unavailalbe and provided a brief update via email:
The main update for the group is that we need to get more participation from the group at large and want to find a time that would make that work for those interested.  We'd like to try to have the next call on tuesday august 12th at 10amPDT/1pmEDT and see if that will work better for an ongoing call time.

Paul asked if resolving the issues that brought the group together is still urgent.  The urgency is related to the timeframe that the bids will actually be posted and it isn't completely clear when the bids that require these decisions will be posted.

5.    Update from DCN working group
Linda Winkler reported that a DCN Working Group meeting was held at JT.  The meeting was well attended.  She plans to send the notes from that meeting by the end of the week and get a regular meeting time arranged.  They are working through the issues of using the wiki to allow participants to contribute to the DCN documents.

6.    Update from Routing Policy working group
David Farmer was unavailable.

7.    Update from Performance working group
Carla Hunt was unavailable.  The group had a face-to-face meeting at JT.  No one attending the call was in attendance at the meeting at JT.

8.    Update on ARIN issues
Dale Finkelson reported that there is an ARIN meeting in Oct (joint meeting with NANOG).  Dale urged the NTAC members to attend.  There is an upcoming election for two openings on the Board of Trustees and five openings on the Advisory Council.  Dale has been unable to identify those whose terms are ending.  Dale encouraged the NTAC to think about good candidates for the openings.  Paul encouraged the NTAC to encourage interested parties to consider running for election.  You need not be a member of ARIN to nominate others but it is necessary to be a member to hold office.  Dale mentioned a policy related to IPv6 that he wanted the NTAC to take note of and encouraged NTAC members to review the policy on the ARIN website.  Paul mentioned that he spoke with Richard Jimmerson at JT and Richard mentioned that, strong consensus within ARIN to support particular policies alone may cause the policy to pass, so Richard encouraged those in higher education to pay attention to policies that are being considered.

9.    Update on naval observatory
David Farmer and Jose Domingues were unavailable.

10.    Update on bulk transfer working group
Chet Ruszczyk talked to Eric Boyd at JT regarding the mission statement of the group. Chet and Steven Senger are going to work on the goals of the group.  Chet expects that this to be resolved within a week.

11.    Update on information and infrastructure group
Martin Swany was unavailable.
Paul mentioned that he attended the working group meeting at JT and he indicated that there was discussion regarding overlapping work in the GLIF community.  There was discussion regarding a common way to represent the data and discussion included the possible use of NML.

12.    Chair Elections
Paul mentioned that, if you wish to nominate someone for chair, send email to Linda Roos and Paul Schopis.  Please send nominations by September 1 and the elections will occur at the Internet2 FMM.  He mentioned that there is a document available on the wiki that describes the election procedure.

13.    Other topics
Dale mentioned that there was a discussion at JT regarding the IPv6 working group.  The question was posed about whether the IPv6 working group should be part of NTAC?  Eric Boyd indicated that he and Rick Summerhill have been trying to list all of the working groups and understand where they are currently housed.  It is important that all Internet2 working groups have direct or indirect relationship to some Council.  Discussion ensued and it was agreed that, while the IPv6 working group does, at some point, need to be associated with a Council and perhaps with the NTAC, there is no urgency for those to occur.  It was mentioned that the IPv6 working group had an excellent meeting during Joint Techs and the community is appreciative of the efforts of the IPv6 working group.
