Subject: First Meeting of the MFA Cohortium
Date: Mon, 20 May 2013 08:14:50 -0700

Welcome to the Cohortium! On behalf of Internet2 and the Scalable Privacy project, we are excited about your willingness to join us in this journey of trying to help institutions advance the state of Multi-factor Authentication deployment in higher education.

The first meeting of the Cohortium will be held via Adobe Connect (with an associated audio call) on Wednesday, May 29, 2:00-3:00 PM EDT (11am PDT/Noon MDT/1pm CDT). Note that the possible attendees of our first meeting are over 90 people, and we recognize that there is no time we can choose for this first meeting that will work for everyone. This first meeting (and all meetings, if the group agrees to it) will be recorded, so that those who cannot attend the meeting can watch it later. Please let us know if that time cannot at all be made to work, and if there is a significant number of such, we'll consider alternatives.

How to join the meeting (we'll send this out again closer to the meeting, and it will be available with the agenda on the wiki page mentioned below) follows:

institution try to limit the number of phone connections to one, potentially with multiple participants
sharing the connection. There is no limitation on the number of Adobe Connect connections; however,
Adobe-only connected participants will be limited to making comments via chat.]

Between now and this first meeting, we'll begin to provide some more background information on how we see the Cohortium effort moving forward, and the final agenda for the first meeting. The meeting will be focused on discussing our goals and work schedule, the creation of work groups, and identifying a regular schedule for our ongoing meetings, among other items.

A draft agenda for this first meeting is available on our temporary wiki space at https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/x/6gNOAg. You are welcome to explore the content there; we'll let you know when our official collaboration site is available.  Our permanent mailing list (mfa-cohort@lists.cohortium.internet2.edu) is open for discussion, please feel free to utilize it for anything relevant. If you have questions or concerns that you would like to direct to us, the project leads, please send to our contact address <cohortium-reg@lists.cohortium.internet2.edu>.

Finally, we'd like to introduce ourselves – Mike Grady and David Walker. We've both been involved in higher education IT and identity management for many years, and have been recruited to work with the Internet2 Scalable Privacy project to help coordinate a number of its key activities and efforts, including the MFA Cohortium. We're here to help you in any way we can, and to ensure that everyone involved gets value out of this effort. Thanks again for your willingness to join us in this journey.
