Welcome 

Internet2 Member Meeting - Monday October 13, 2008 - New Orleans - 8:00am-4pm, http://events.internet2.edu/2008/fall-mm/

  • K20/T&L sessions will be well represented at upcoming MM.
  • About 20 people on the call indicated they are planning to attend the conference.
  • Bob Collie and Jennifer will organize a Sunday evening social event.
  • Randy gave an overview of the open meeting agenda.  See the URL above for the latest agenda.
  • Marla suggested putting together a VC project around career shadowing for the National Entrepreneurial Week.  This topic will be added to the afternoon closed Advisory Committee business meeting agenda.

Connectivity Survey Status  http://k20.internet2.edu/connectivity

  • Display and input forms have been completed. See URL above for a sneak peak. 
  • 14 states have completed data collection at this time. 
  • James will be in touch with specific details on how to submit your SEGP data for the 2008 survey.  Goal is to complete the collection process by the Fall Member Meeting.
  • Thanks to all for your hard work on toward collecting the data.  The results will enable much more effective collaboration enabling tools for the broad K20 community. 

SEGP Updates

NY - on track to having 70% of K12s in the state connected
OH - has now connected all their K-12 schools.  Ann will update the Ohio connectivity survey forms.
KY - Jennifer introduced Susan Lancaster as the new KY SEGP K20 outreach applications coordinator.
MN - Myron has started a major VC initiative to engage students and teachers in STEM by connecting them with professionals in fields of interest.

  • The group ran out of time for this item. Discussion can continue at the Fall AC meeting.

K20 Initiative Mid-Year Leadership Meetings - Convene in person in between I2 MM's for planning to develop collaborations and broaden participation in the K20 Initiative - formation of working groups - Frequency:  1-2 meetings per year

  • Bob offered his facilities in Nashville as a venue. Marla offered TIES in St. Paul as a venue as well.
  • The group can continue discussion at the Fall AC meeting.
