These are bullets points from the Panel Discussion.

  • We need to find a way to flip and use the fact that we are decentralized, remote and distributed to help us with governance
  • EA needs to define core vs. commodity (or at least help people figure this out).
  • EA needs to focus on change management:  culture and educational change
  • Functions of EA: Facilitate, Navigate and Educate
  • Be specific about the behaviors we are trying to affect
  • Need to educate about the Connections and Dependencies
  • Not regulate but embrace the diversity
  • Governance should be tiered - related to the PACE Layers
  • Use, Leverage and and Understand the different paradigms that exist on campus (e.g. Linda's paradigm is around pedagogy and learning outcomes not technology).
  • Keep the importance of the user perspective at the fore
  • Communicating as an EA:  Keep the layers in mind - Conceptual -> Logical -> Physical
    • Understand the value proposition of the audience.
