EA Frameworks Interview Questions

The questions have been revised and can be reviewed here: https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/itana/Interview+questions

The group discussed who the interview should target, and where those interviewees should be in their maturity level. It was suggested that two branches of questions may be beneficial: one for those interviewees that are far along in the maturity level, one for those that are in earlier stages. Some points to consider:

  • Originally, the interviews were meant to find some examples of reasonably well developed EA frameworks by talking to institutions that have adopted a framework.
  • Those institutions that are low on the maturity scale may be good interview candidates as well to discuss conceptual level of frameworks.
  • The questions are meant to interview institutions that may have framework in place, but may not necessarily have applied it across multiple domains across the institution.
  • Interview questions should address an institution's initial goals in adopting a framework, and how those goals have/have not been met.

Portal Framework Team

See Consideration of Enterprise Portals on wiki: https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/itana/Consideration+of+Enterprise+Portals

The group discussed the Portal Team's initial activity with respect to information available on the wiki (see above link): the role of the portal with regard to other resources, how the portal is situated with respect to the campus homepage, how the user experience is managed. Some points to consider:

The Portal Team is looking for feedback on the lines of inquiry and support on how quickly the inquiry can be accomplished. Wisconsin's work will be made available by next week, and presented to the sub-group as a case study of how the inquiry was done.

It would be of value to include in the inquiry an understanding of the technical environment in which the portal is set up and what effect that has.

It's important to define "portal" for common understanding and language. It may be useful to think about "portals" as a combination of the particular goals that institutions are trying to achieve through the aggregated services they provide, whether they call it a "portal" or not. (A "service presentation strategy" rather than a "portal?")

Questions to consider:

  • Understanding the role of student lifecycle in the portal:
  • which population(s) are served by the portal?
  • What phase(s) of the student lifecycle is the portal supporting?
  • Are there multiple portals to serve multiple populations?
  • How do changes to technology affect the role of the portal (e.g. mobile computing)?
  • In what ways is it important to consolidate user experience?
  • What role/impact does cloud computing have on the role of portals?

(AI) (Scott F.) Schedule a conference call via phone bridge or Adobe Connect for portal team.

(AI) (Portal Team) Select a wiki keeper for the Portal team.

---------------
AACRAO Tech 2010: Student Lifecycle Summit

The goal is to build a stronger bridge between architects and registrars on campuses to help them understand how they can go forward and work together as an outcome of the summit. People should come to the meeting as a team.

(AI) (All) Think about AACRAO Student Lifecycle Summit with regard to ROs you would attend with, presentations you may want to propose, etc; contact Jim P. with your feedback. Details can be viewed here: https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/itana/AACAO2010
