Status Updates - Q&A

2022 TAC Work Plan - approval

  • The 2022 TAC Work Plan was adopted.
  • There was discussion of IAM Online (or similar) webcast to highlight what TAC is doing this year.
    • This could be done in conjunction with CTAB and CACTI. David Bantz (CTAB) concurred; Keith will talk with Rob Carter (CACTI) about it.

Review of SMEs

  • David Walker is currently the only Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Past TAC members often stay on the email and Slack lists to continue to contribute.
  • We don’t see a need for more SMEs to address 2022 issues, although perhaps for the digital wallet issue. We can always add people as needed. David Walker will remain an SME.

Digital Wallet Charter review and vote

  • A timeline had been added to complete this calendar year. People like that.
  • International coordination will be required with encouragement for international participation.
  • There’ll be a strong educational aspect of this activity, for the group members and for readers of their report.
  • There were no concerns with the charter. TAC approves the group, pending CACTI approval.

Level set - subject identifier adoption

  • We’re seeing the new subject identifiers being mentioned internationally in new specs like the SeamlessAccess authentication profiles.
  • State of TAC discussions of how to roll the new identifiers out (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W10faK0yswGYgA_llEu1P44XyZAOvRwMVqHap42Ivhw/edit#heading=h.aefkylp3jz9g) was discussed.
    • The following should be added:
      • Timelines
      • Metrics of success
      • What additional things need to be deployed?
    • How do we get either side (SP, IdP) to move when the other side is not ready?
      • Need communication explaining why this is happening.
      • We can poll institutions for how compatible their ePPNs and targedIDs so are (so the new identifiers are just asserting already-supported attributes under a different name)
      • Also, we can poll service providers for their ability accept the new identifiers. Many are reasonably flexible as to attribute names.
  • This topic will be continued in our next meeting’s agenda.

International Update
REFEDS

  • The R&S Working Group continues its efforts to harmonize the Anonymous Authorization and Pseudonymous Authorization entity categories with the Personalized Entity Category. Included in this effort is a first draft of Federated Authorization Best Practices. The working group is looking for feedback on that article via the rands@lists.refeds.org mailing list. They've finished their first pass at the Anonymous Anonymous Access spec and will focus next on the Pseudonymous Access spec. Note the name change from "Authorization" to "Access".
  • The new Schema Editorial Board subcommittee on Pronouns has had their kickoff meeting. They expect to produce two outputs: a new attribute for eduPerson and a Best Practice document on when and how to use it.
  • The 2022 Worksplan is live: https://wiki.refeds.org/display/WOR/2022+Workplan

SeamlessAccess
The product roadmap is always available to the public: https://seamlessaccess.org/services/

The Contract Language Working Group has completed its Model Contract and will be sending it to the SeamlessAccess Governance Committee for approval before it distributes it for public consumption.

The WAYF Entry Disambiguation Working Group has its sights set on guidance for logos and proposing an updat to the language in the MDUI specification. While the latter isn't likely to make progress, it is one of the ideas the group is looking to to improve general guidance for discovery services. CACTI Update

From:Steven Premeau

My first CACTI meeting (on 2/1) covered two main topics:

  • The (then current) draft of the Digital Wallet working group charter .. which generated feedback that was incorporated into the draft version on today's TAC agenda.
  • A draft charter for an "SSO System Linking Working Group" -- developed by Rob Carter and Keith after their CAMP session on the topic.

Fed2.0 and FedTest

From:Bush,Judith

Fed2.0 – the report’s final PDF formatting is near completion or completed. It’s on the REFEDS steering agenda  in late Feb.

FedTest – I was out much more than I expected for the past ten days and have not responded to the two emails I’ve received re  interest. One person shared a use case, another is someone in a different Federation thinking about similar things.
