Agenda Bash

  • Mark Rank requested a quick discussion of the discovery service recommendations for Steering.

Status Updates

  • T&I and Ops Updates
    • A new version of Federation Manager was released.
    • There was a review of all InCommon systems for log4j issues. Nothing was found.
    • There were no public-facing impacts of the recent AWS problems. It did affect deployment of a new version of the Federation Manager for a while.
    • We're in the final week of Baseline Expectations 2. The wiki data is being updated at https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/BE/baseline-expectations-2. About 86% of the organizations comply, representing about 98% of the IdPs.
    • Ken Klingenstein was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame.
  • FedTest Working Group
    • Judith is having trouble identifying a co-chair. Is it OK to have only a chair?
    • Not having a co-chair is not optimal but we also don’t want to delay starting because of that.

Discovery Service Recommendations for Steering

  • Ann had added a comment to the draft recommendations that some of the “adoption challenges and operations” bullets are terse. Steering would probably like more detail.
    • Mary mentioned that the document is trying to stick to technical issues, not business issues.
    • The document will be modified to identify business drivers as background, then challenges can indicate potential impacts on the drivers, as needed.
      • This probably means that Steering will get the recommendations for its Jan. 10, 2022 meeting.

Round table chat - how did 2021 go? what would you like to see in 2022?

  • (We ran out of time.)

Fed2.0 and FedTest

Subject:[TAC-InC] Fed2.0 and FedTest

From:Bush,Judith

Fed2.0 continues to draft changes to address the consultation comments – clarifying where in the current landscape of R&E federation there is the gap that the report recommends filling.

FedTest group has had no responses from mailing list participants. Plan is to reach out to the authors of the deployment profile and the consultation commenters on the profile and see if we can wrangle some time from them. I am not hopeful of finding a cochair and hope the flywheel can help as a backup for meetings when the chair is absent.

CTAB Update

Subject:[TAC-InC] CTAB Update
Date:Thu, 16 Dec 2021 17:02:54 +0000
From:Eric Goodman

Notes from last CTAB meeting:

  • Welcomed Sara Borland, new CTAB member from University of Nebraska

  • Reviewed BEv2 status and followup
    • CTAB members have been reaching out to the organizations that haven’t responded yet.
    • Discussion of the process for granting extensions beyond the nominal Dec 17 compliance date.
    • Discussion of when it does or does not make sense for vendors to join and list entities in InCommon (as compared to university member listing the entity on their behalf)
    • Outreach reminded us that we should do another round of validating contact info in metadata.

  • CTAB 2022 Work Plan
    • CTAB is looking to create a more formal workplan summary (a la TAC’s workplan) to provide an “at a glance” outline of what CTAB is up to.

  • Congratulations to Ken Klingenstein for his induction in to the Internet Hall of Fame!
