AGENDA
Vendor conference calls
- call last week with jstor
- upcoming call with elsevier 10/2
- trying to schedule oclc
Review goals and charge
- Progress
Next steps
- Best practices - how to circulate
- Upcoming presentations
Registry
- What do we want the registry to be?
- Do any of us want an ongoing role in maintaining the registry?
Action Items:
[AI] Foster will send vendor-specific implementation questions back to the list for inclusion in discussions with vendors.
[AI] Kennedy and Woodbeck will follow up with OCLC to try to schedule meeting.
Notes:
Review goals and charges:
- have completed most of our stated goals
- an eye towards our subgroup's completion?
Next steps:
- upcoming presentation at internet2
- upcoming presentation at eduCause
- we made edits in best practices based on jstor feedback, will probably do the same with elsevier, and oclc, so hold off on circulating until further feedback
- will likely want to circulate to a small circle first, maybe prioritized vendor list and larger collaboration group
Registry:
- it is the feeling of this group that this registry will best be maintained, at least in the near term, by a small group. Members of this group are interested in continuing that task
Foster's suggestion that InCommon should consider a standing committee to aid in implementation of Shibboleth, similar to the way the UK federation does - oversee the process, assist individual libraries. Discussed what capabilities InCommon has (how they are staffed), this will likely be a volunteer-based group. Should discuss this idea with Steven Carmody, maybe with larger group.
Vendor conference calls - should we include vendor-specific implementation questions with these vendors? Elsevier's URL structure is rather complicated. OCLC still using OCLC-specific entitlement. [AI] Foster will send some questions back to the group for inclusion in discussion with vendors.
[AI] Kennedy and Woodbeck will follow up with OCLC to try to schedule meeting.
