CSP Notes from Tech Ex & Next Steps on October 18:

  • Several campuses were able to get together at TechEx in San Francisco to discuss the Campus Success Program and hopes for F2F meeting outcomes.
    • Colorado School of Mines
    • Georgia Tech
    • Lafayette
    • Oregon State
    • Rice
    • UC Merced
    • Illinois
    • UMBC
    • Michigan
  • Face to Face Hopes and Dreams
    • Everyone agreed that it would be ideal to have a F2F meeting before the end of the year.
    • There is a survey in circulation for the leads of each campus to let us know what dates can work for their campuses and also to rank location.  As of 10/23, 4 schools have responded.
    • Goals: synergize on project plans, create breakout teams, share lessons learned in similar efforts, general collaboration
    • There will be a remote option, but would be ideal for folks to attend in person
    • There will be a separate virtual meetings for CIOs.
    • This meeting should include project leads, architecture, and operations
    • To eliminate wasted travel time, we will meet for two days
  • Training
    • After two early morning discussions at TechEx fueled by mediocre coffee, the mini program committee decided that the F2F audience isn’t necessarily the target audience for training, so we’re proposing we deliver much of that remotely (see below).
    • Based on the feedback received, there is significant training interest in Grouper, Docker, and MidPoint with a few COmanage requests.  We'll work on remote training so that the right roles from campuses can attend.
    • We will bring SMEs to the F2F for answering questions
    • Later, after training, we will have open office hours so that everyone can find answers to address specific project questions
    • Feel free to post questions in Slack so that we can get answers/help for you along the way
    • Training timeline: Hopefully we will have the training ready after the winter holiday break.
