Here are guidelines for naming email lists for working groups:

prefix

mid part
(if needed)

suffix

EXAMPLE

<topic area> -

 <dev>
<users>
<advisory>
<announce>

@internet2.edu

or

@incommon.org

grouper-dev@internet2.edu

Also:

  • Make names as short and explanatory as possible
  • use dashes, not underscores, to separate elements of the list name
  • for the part after the prefix use lower case (so TIER-packaging@internet2.edu NOT TIER-Packaging@internet2.edu)
  • In general, don't include "wg" in the list name. Instead, simply name the list according to what group it serves:
    • grouper-users@internet2.edu
    • TIER-api@internet2.edu
    • participants@incommon.org

  • No labels
