The evolution of cloud computing services continues to stimulate interest in a wide variety of solutions across higher education. The amount of opportunities the cloud represents can overwhelm one’s capacity for understanding all of the rapid increase in solutions. This is a considerable challenge particularly when one considers the accelerating size and diversity of the cloud market. The Internet2 NET+ cloud community is organizing to try to tackle part of this challenge.

Based on community feedback, Internet2 is considering developing a cloud services scorecard to help our members assess cloud services for compliance with higher education standards and needs. Envisioned to leverage the standards that have been developed and utilized in the NET+ Cloud Services program, we anticipate the scorecard will be a self-assessment completed by a vendor, allowing research and education institutions to leverage the scorecard standards in RFPs and also to benchmark or evaluate services against key criteria. This cloud scorecard will complement existing capabilities and efforts within the Internet2 NET+ program.

To help evaluate this effort, we’ve formed a working group to assist in the evaluation of the idea. The group is conducting a survey to test community interest and seek alignment on key service attributes and scorecard criteria.

You are invited to take the survey as a valued member of the Internet2 community with an interest in cloud services.

If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Sean O'Brien, Director of NET+ Cloud Services at Internet2.
