Minutes:
Community Exchange: Over 500 attendees attended CommEx this year with 140 new people. Comments from Steering members in attendance included: more CIO communication around IAM, great exchange of communication, encouraged by the number of executives in attendance, good energy, good discussions, great to see folks in person and the topics were on point. One of the best major Internet2 meetings in a very long time. Tech Exchange is next up in December in Boston.
InCommon's Futures Project: Ann went through the lanes of action for the first year including the challenges about how we work together today. Some key points discussed were:
Resourcing and extent of change
Not making big changes
Making decisions on what's important
Communication and documentation
Decision Areas
Want to show change and impact
Identify key audiences
What to work on the first year?
First steps- determine which projects to work on
Define a discovery project
Ann- we need to have a key stakeholder that is involved and do regular releases of things that people can use- maybe quarterly (could be a white paper or documentation) some type of regular release or training.
Christine- the content is laid out well. For us, we have software releases every 2 or 3 weeks, faster is better concerned that waiting 4 months is a long time
Ann- looking for help to identify companies we can work with. Want to partner with federal agencies in addition to NIH, and figure out how we can help in a more useful way.
Ann- industry services will be a key partner going forward. Our outreach over time should be more balanced with service providers as it is with Higher education.
Ann will make the mural board available to Steering Members. This has been shared with the staff along with VPs and received a lot of positive feedback. We are now incorporating feedback from Comm Exchange and determining next steps.
Google and third party cookies: Google has stopped enabling them. Links above for reading material on the subject that came out last year. Will be discussed more at next months meeting
Meeting adjourned
Next meeting - April 1, 2024
