InC Student - Friday, September 28, 2012

Attending: Dave Moldoff, Arnie Marks, Ann West, Jim Leous, Nate Klingenstein, Rodney Petersen, Vince Timbers, Mark McConnahay, Harry Nicolas

The technical team has worked on prototyping. The IdP is up and running; now working on the LDAP directory. Working on CommIT screens and sample services.

Dave, Arnie, and Nate spoke with the CTO at Hitachi and spent a fair amount of time on technical questions. Hitachi has agreed to the use of the HItachiID software for the demo at no charge and with no strings attached. Nate commented that this should meet the needs for registration of individuals. There will be some custom integration work and changes to the login handler interface. There are resources at Georgetown to help with that. The next step will be standing up an SP. Harry Nicolas at N.C. State said he would be able to work on an SP, but not until January. Ann is approaching Penn State and Indiana any potential for help.

The plan is to present a demo at the PESC meeting in mid-October.

Ann mentioned the possibility for funding of a more full-blown design prototype and business plan for production. She believes the decision on that is close.

Dave Moldoff asked for feedback about the potential for a service that would provide letters of recommendation electronically and connect to the CommIT project (and do the matching, so to eliminate the problems with matching). Is this a service that would be useful? It was agreed that this is useful to pursue and Dave will continue the conversation off-line.
