a use case for iPlant, DataOne
A researcher has a self-managed profile which defines his/her area(s) of study. As new datasets are made available in those areas, the researcher is automatically granted access them based on the interests described in their profile.
(ViVO may be the answer to some of this; as we start to think about helping VO, this profile angle will be interesting; ViVO uses federation to allow users to maintain their profiles themselves)
(Would it be possible to include a ViVO install in to COmanage so that researchers can manage profile information within the VO? Perhaps make it optional to pull from their home institution if they have a profile available there, but otherwise help them create one within the VO?)
