Discussion

Request for FIM4R Input

  • For background on FIM4R, see  https://fim4r.org/
  • CACTI members are asked to review the list of identified issues from the FIM4R group and provide advice on the right groups/people to address the issues listed.
  • It was noted that a list of requirements from FIM4R can be very helpful to groups like GEANT, Internet2, and CACTI
  • The FIM4R group decided not to pre-prioritize the list, since the requirements came from various research organizations sharing their needs. The hope is to capitalize on opportunities. WIth prioritization, sometimes items below the dotted line get ignored even if simple to accomplish.

[AI] (CACTI members) Provide your responses to the FIM4R input request  as an email to the CACTI list.

MACE-Directories Working Group Rechartering

  • For background, please see these slides from TechEx: 20171016-Trust-Identity-Opening-selectedPages.pdf
  • MACE-Directories Working Group rechartering was discussed at the MACE-Directories WG meeting at Tech Ex and also on the Oct. 30, 2017 MACE-Dir call. There was discussion of broadening scope of MACE-Directories Working Group beyond just the IdP perspective and how to strike the right tone in the charter. Notes from the discussions are available here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19OGEWazQ5Fr3vNt9hF1p10du6yLLOIoO5lWKxW7qbLc/edit
  • Keith Hazelton will develop bullets for a MACE-Directories Working Group charter.
  • Leaving the work in areas such as schema development and maintenance to “those who show up” may not be an effective approach in all cases.  We need to structurally address this, to be sure the right constituencies are represented in key groups.
  • It was noted that there may be lack of standards and specs experts working in the GEANT work groups if not coordinated.

GEANT workplan submissions

  • Links:
  • AnnH is Interested in CACTI member’s feedback and views on items on the New Ideas Submission list.
  • CACTI input/ insight (and perhaps a CACTI statement)  should be provided during November.  The draft workplan paper will be developed by 1st week of December.
  • Insight into combined projects would be especially helpful.
  •  [AI] (ChrisP and AnnH) discuss the request of CACTI  around feedback to GEANT workplan and make the request crisper.
