OIM Support Group --Tues., Nov 12, 2013 at 2pm - Marina del Rey Room
TOPIC: OIM Support Group
CONVENER: Steve C
SCRIBE: Bert Bee-Lindgren
# of ATTENDEES: 18
MAIN ISSUES DISCUSSED:
Helping each other with OIM
-Common connectors
Who is happy to be using OIM: No one
Why are we still using it?
Combining with Grouper? -- Need to create roles to pair with grouper
What is OIM's value?
How to architect to reduce lock-in?
-Use OIM implementation as a chance to externalize business logic
-Invest in reusable provisioning code (message-based, etc)
-
Two models:
1) OIM Data -> Roles -> Provisioning
2) External Data/Roles --> Provisioning
Version dependencies
1) Infrastructure (WebLogic, etc) has to be upgraded in lock step
2) Connected systems don't need to be upgraded in sync with OIM
3) You can't upgrade a connected system until OIM supports it
Successes:
1) Running shell scripts at the right time [Mike G], particularly with Identity Works as a partner
2) Oracle-application provisioning
3) Provisioning (AD, Business Suites, Sun LDAP) [Georgetown]
4) Full implementation underway [U Minn]
Where to go, if not Oracle:
1) CIFER (Open Registry, CPR)
