Review of ACAMP Action Item Process So Far

TomB welcomed the group. This is third of three "check-in" calls that the Advance CAMP Program Committee has scheduled with the Action Item Leads, as stated in the Follow-Up Plan.

At the end of the call, we will ask if there should be another call scheduled in a few months, to help keep tabs on how things are progressing.

There are 15 activites that continue to have an active state. In most cases, some substantial work is being done.

Reports from the Leads

Each Lead should report on 1) status and 2) Plans for "home" for the work going forward, if applicable

Action Item: Identify & Promulgate Tools for Risk Assessment and Entropy Calculation (Mark)

Mark reported:

  • The EDUCAUSE IAM Subgroup will keep the action item "risk assessment and entropy calculation" on their radar, but this is not in fact a primary effort or goal of the subgroup.
  • Should the "risk assessment and entropy calculation" issue be made a subset of InCommon Silver?
  • This issue is a place holder for people's desire to know how to mitigate the risks that InCommon Silver addresses.
  • Mark and TomB will continue to communicate about this.

  • The team has met two times establishing a process for change (review by small group, review by larger community and then moving changes to a production credentialing service).
  • One of the immediate tasks is to remove items that are not related to the TFPAP from the current InCommon Silver IAP.
  • This team will be meeting face to face for two days in the first week of December .

Action Item: Promote integration of K12 within state and national federations (TimP)

 Tim reported:

  • Conversations are ongoing on this topic
  • There are upcoming discussions with InCommon and the Dept. of Education.
  • It would be good to have support (a value proposition for K-12) from InCommon, if that is a direction InCommon wants to take.
  • There need to be enough services that are relevant to K12 or K20 to make a sound business case.

Additional Discussion

Q: Is it desirable to have another follow up call for these ACAMP action items in Feb. or March of 2011?

Two on the call said yes, this is desirable.  ScottC said it would not  be needed to motivate him, since time, not motivation is the limiting factor.  But it could be good to share progress in preparation for the 2011 Advance CAMP.  The consensus was that a follow-up call in early spring 2011 would be valuable.

Emily plans to send notes from this call to the ACAMP attendee list. Emily also plans a press release on the accomplishments from 2010 ACAMP.

Thank you to all ACAMP Action Item leads for the excellent work.

Plans for 2011 ACAMP

2011 Advance CAMP will be held May 25-27 at Westin Westminster just outside Denver. A program committee is being formed.

The 2011 Advance CAMP will immediately follow the Jasig Spring Conference at the same venue.

More news on the 2011 ACAMP will be forthcoming in January.
